" Hi Dr. Colt,
{Name] here. I just wanted to
drop you a line and let you know how things are going.
I've really seen a difference in my life
since our sessions. I feel I have really
gotten control over my emotions as well as my outlook on things in
general. I doubt in your field you get
enough positive response, so let me say how wonderful it was to work
with you and how big of an impact you made on my life.
You have a very warm and sincere manner
that made me feel very comfortable speaking with you. Occasionally
people find the perfect avenue for their skills. You
have done that indeed. I hope one day
our paths cross again. Who knows, maybe
I'll run into you in San Francisco. Take
care and the best to you and your family.
Deepest Regards, [Name]"
" Dr.
Colt...Last evenings session was incredibly enlightening and helpful in
understanding what most likely triggered my initial reaction and reason
for seemingly not being able to "let go" for such a long period of time.
Having identified that long buried incident, it is much easier to
understand and be able to move forward with the Intellectual/Emotional
Integration that we discussed. I think the most frustrating part of all
of this sort of "stuff" is the lack of understanding as to "why". You
helped me identify the "why". It wasn't fun then, nor even discussing it
last night...but it needed discussing. Unfortunately,
[Name], my incredibly patient, understanding and loyal wife of
XX years has borne the brunt of my frustration
for the past six months. I've got a lot of ground to make up with her.
I am hopeful that you will be able to help
[Name] in your session with her tomorrow. She needs, as she put
it, ' the magic rubberband .'
Thanks again and thank you too for following up on the receipts. "
-- B.G. Parker
"Of all the mediocre, and less than mediocre,
therapists I've seen, and I'm not patronizing you, Marshall, you're the best
therapist I've ever had." -- W.K.
"I
certainly did appreciate your ear, as it took quite a load off my heart
and shoulders to be able to share my dilemma. Many thanks for your
unbiased perspectives and your non-judgmental counseling. I did
learn something from the encounter - what my boundaries were...what I was
prepared to handle, or not. That's a good thing." -- W.J.

"Dear Marshall, I just wanted to drop you a
line, and was motivated by your caring [9/11] email. I'm so
appreciative that you really want to be available to your clients, and I
just simply thought that it was a very nice thing to do. Although
we only met once, I wanted to let you know that it was very helpful, and I'd
like to have another session at some point in the future. I was
impressed at how productive it was, and I felt that even though I didn't
feel like I was being particularly articulate, you seemed to really
understand what I was trying to communicate. Such a relief to me!
I will give you a call when I figure out when I can make an
appointment." -- B.M. Denver
"...was
impressed at breadth and depth of experience." -- P.F. Denver
"Every time I talk to you, a
little part inside of me is healing." -- R.C.
"I've
been in counseling several times before. This is the first time I feel
there're changes taking place. Before I felt like I was just putting
band-aids on. Life is 100% better that it was 3 months
ago. Being alone is okay again. When you first told me about
this process, I thought you were nuts. Now I find myself having a
lot more peace. Thank you, Marshall" --
H.P.
" Thanks for your help, I feel much better about myself already." -- T.C. Littleton
"You were fantastic. I had
quite a bit to think about after talking to you and I greatly appreciate you
taking your time and sharing your expertise with me." -- V.A.
"Thanks for meeting with me on
such short notice. I felt really great after leaving your office
Wednesday night and have been feeling great ever since." -- M.B.
Denver
"I feel that it really helps me
when I see you and I do not want to wait 10 days in between appointments
if I do not have to." -- T.R. Parker
"I walked in [your office] last
night feeling confused and uncertain. I left feeling like I had my
direction back a bit (at least a game plan). Thank you for that.
I will let you know if I should need a "tune-up" at some point.
But I want you to know that having someone you can go to in times of
difficulty is a valuable thing indeed. So thank you for that as
well." -- E.C.
"Dr. Colt - Hi, I just wanted to
say thank you for our counseling session last night. I think you did a
great job, and I feel like you can really help me. I was definitely
tense and nervous, as I've never done this before, but I want you to know
that I do feel like I can trust you, and that I think that I can become very
comfortable with you. You were right when you said that it would be
hard, but I know that it won't get better without going through the hard
stuff first. I look forward to our next session.... Thanks
again." -- S.K.
"Thanks for the confirmation.
I am happy about the coming appointment. Sounds funny to say that with
all the pain and the rest to deal with during and after and at the same
time, a relief and happiness to deal with it at last. Thanks for being
there and look forward to seeing you next week." -- G.P. Denver
"Dear Marshall, First of
all, I want to thank you for what you have allowed me to accomplish over
these past months. There is a poem, "Johnny's Song'" by
Steve Mason: 'There is one other wall, of course, One we never speak of. One we
never see. One which separates memory from madness. In a place no one
offers flowers. THE WALL WITHIN. We permit no visitors.' Thanks for the visit and the flowers. There are
others waiting for your visit and your flowers. may God bless--and
Peace. Gary Owen, -- C.J. Los Angeles
